Make America Great for All

The #MAGA I support is Make America Great for All. We can't Make America Great Again--because "Again" suggests going backwards to a time that is past. As a people our destination is forward-moving, and that will take imagination, commitment, collaboration, and care.

As I think about this shift from President Trump's outdated, backwards, and self-supporting vision for the United States to a collaborative, promising, positive vision of Make America Great for All, I am thinking about what I can do.

First, since I know that education uplifts us, I will commit to teaching well in the year ahead. And to teach well, I'll focus on the following efforts:
  • Contributing to a dynamic, collaborative teaching/learning team of students, family members, educators, staff, administrators, and community members to teach and learn well.
  • Fostering learning strength and success by teaching students the science behind learning--what makes successful learners.
  • Teaching students math in meaningful, engaging, and empowering ways to foster good problem solving and critical thinking skills as well as to give students the mathematical knowledge needed to understand and interact with the sophisticated world they live in.
  • Building students' ability to respectfully and positively work with others to create, solve problems, and make a positive difference in their own lives and the lives of others.
Next, both at school and at home, I want to be mindful of my Earth-friendly ways. I don't want to use up more than my share, and if possible I want to use less of my share in order to support our planet. I want to reduce the use of plastics, compost more, and grow more of my own food.

I want to understand and respect those who have political views that are different from mine, and help to work with others to make good compromises and decisions to forward our communities in ways that matter.

To Make America Great for ALL is a call that all Americans can back as it's a way of coming together to figure out how we can support every individual, group, and community in sensitive, positive ways that matter. Let's do it.
